Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.'s total vehicle sales in July plunged 33.5% to 109,264 vehicles, against 164,369 vehicles sold a year ago.
The carmaker's domestic sales dropped 35.1% year over year to 100,006 vehicles from 154,150 sold in July 2018, mainly driven by declining sales across all of the company's vehicle categories. The sale of midsized vehicles, however, surged to 2,397 vehicles from 48 units.
The Indian arm of Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. sold a total of 96,478 passenger vehicles in its home market, a sharp 36.7% year-over-year decline. Meanwhile, total exports for the month fell 9.4% year over year to 9,258.
In June, the company reported a 14% year-over-year decline in global sales.
