Orion's Prieska zinc-copper mineral resource grows to 30.5 million tonnes

Orion Minerals Ltd. increased the indicated and inferred resource estimate for its Prieska project in South Africa to 30.5 million tonnes at 3.7% zinc and 1.2% copper, including an updated resource for the open pit.

Indicated resources total 19.1 million tonnes at 3.59% zinc and 1.18% copper, according to a Jan. 15 release.

The open pit mineral resource stands at 1.8 million tonnes at 2.0% zinc and 1.5% copper containing 35,000 tonnes of zinc and 27,000 tonnes of copper.

The previous indicated and inferred resource estimate stood at 28.7 million tonnes at 3.77% zinc and 1.16% copper containing 1.1 million tonnes of zinc and 334,000 tonnes of copper.

A bankable feasibility study based on the new resource estimate is on track for completion in the second quarter.
