Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances fiscal Q4 profit falls YOY

Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 amounted to 46 Indian paise per share, a decline of 54.2% from 1.01 rupees per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 8.3 million rupees, a decline of 54.0% from 18.0 million rupees in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 0.6% from 1.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell 14.0% year over year to 1.49 billion rupees from 1.74 billion rupees, and total operating expenses fell 18.3% on an annual basis to 1.37 billion rupees from 1.68 billion rupees.

Reported net income declined 11.9% year over year to 8.9 million rupees, or 50 paise per share, from 10.1 million rupees, or 57 paise per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 1.50 rupees per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 2.65 rupees.

EPS declined 87.6% from 12.08 rupees in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 26.8 million rupees, a decline of 87.6% from 216.0 million rupees in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue fell 30.8% from the prior-year period to 5.29 billion rupees from 7.64 billion rupees, and total operating expenses fell 30.0% year over year to 4.97 billion rupees from 7.09 billion rupees.

The company said reported net income fell 87.4% on an annual basis to 28.3 million rupees, or 1.58 rupees per share, in the full year, from 224.1 million rupees, or 12.54 rupees per share.

As of June 10, US$1 was equivalent to 63.85 Indian rupees.
