Mednax buys private infant care practice in Miami

Mednax Inc. acquired South Dade Neonatology, a Miami-based private infant care practice.

South Dade Neonatology operates in South Florida, providing neonatal care for premature newborns and critically ill babies in addition to newborn hearing screens and well-baby coverage. The practice services nine regional hospitals.

The Sunrise, Fla.-based medical service provider acquired South Dade using cash. The company expects the deal to be immediately accretive to earnings. No other financial details were disclosed.

South Dade becomes the seventh physician group practice purchased by Mednax in 2018.
