ServiceNow hires former SAP exec as CEO

Enterprise software company ServiceNow Inc. named former SAP SE executive Bill McDermott as president, CEO and a board member, effective 2019-end.

McDermott will succeed John Donahoe, who is joining Nike Inc. as president and CEO in January 2020. Donahoe will remain as ServiceNow CEO through the transition period and keep his seat on the board until the end of his term in June 2020.

McDermott joined SAP in 2002 and stepped down as the company's CEO earlier this month. SAP tripled its market value to approximately $140 billion under his watch.

Meanwhile, ServiceNow reported preliminary GAAP revenues of $885.8 million in the third quarter, up 32% year over year. Of these, subscription revenues rose 33% to $834.9 million, while professional services and other revenues increased 9% to $50.9 million.

For full year 2019, the company projects GAAP subscription revenues to reach $3.24 billion to $3.25 billion, representing annual growth of 36% to 37%, including foreign exchange adjustments.

ServiceNow will release its full third-quarter financial results after market close Oct. 23.
