Audi AG said June 13 that it will team up with German solar energy company SMA Solar Technology AG and electrical installations manufacturer Hager Group to offer solutions to connect the carmaker's electric cars to users' home infrastructure.
The Porsche Automobil Holding SE-owned automaker said the project includes plans to allow users to connect their Audi E-trons' charging system to their homes through WiFi and a home energy management system.
Audi said the charging system will also take the driver's power requirements into account to avoid overloading the home electrical system.
Users can check the status and statistics of their charging through the myAudi portal and myAudi app, the company added.
