Scatec Solar completes 390-MW project in Egypt

Scatec Solar ASA on Oct. 16 announced that it has completed the 390-MW Benban solar project near Aswan in Upper Egypt after connecting to the grid the last of the six 65-MW portions of the project.

In April 2017, Scatec Solar and partners KLP Norfund Investments AS and Africa50 Infrastructure Fund signed a 25-year contract to deliver the output of six solar plants with a combined capacity of about 400 MW to the government of Egypt.

The project uses bi-facial solar modules and is expected to produce annual electricity output of 870 GWh to cover the energy consumption of more than 420,000 residential homes.

The 390-MW solar project is part of the 1,800-MW Benban solar park.
