Euronext's December 2018 average daily transaction value dips YOY

The average daily transaction value on Euronext NV's cash-order book amounted to about €7.90 billion in December 2018, down 0.9% from a year earlier but up 5.7% month over month.

Activity on exchange-traded funds reached an average daily transaction value of €255 million in December 2018, down 6.0% from a year ago and up 11.6% from the previous month. The pan-European exchange recorded 1,150 ETF listings at 2018-end, compared to 1,048 at the end of 2017.

The average daily volume on equity index derivatives stood at 285,459 contracts, up 33.7% from December 2017. The ADV on individual equity derivatives reached 327,992 contracts, up 15.7% year over year, while the ADV on commodity derivatives was down 0.3% on a yearly basis to 37,916 contracts.

The overall ADV on derivatives reached 651,367 contracts at the end of December 2018, up 21.8% from a year earlier. The ADV on the spot foreign exchange market of FastMatch stood at $19.11 billion in December 2018, up 22.5% from a year ago and down 5.9% month over month.

For full year 2018, the ADV on the exchange's cash-order book reached €8.11 billion, up 5.7% from 2017. The ADV on Euronext derivatives stood at 585,310 contracts, up 6.4% from a year earlier.
