Amazon.com Inc. on Sept. 25 introduced a new line-up of Echo devices and the latest addition to its eero mesh Wi-Fi system, along with new programs and features.
The new Echo devices include the All-new Echo, which features an updated fabric design; Echo Flex, a wireless plug-in smart speaker; Echo Dot with clock, a new option for Echo Dot which includes an LED display that shows the time; Echo Show 8, an 8-inch HD smart display with a built-in camera shutter; Echo Studio, which has five built-in directional speakers and a built-in smart home hub; and Echo Buds, which are wireless earbuds with hands-free access to Alexa.
The new Echo devices are available for pre-order and will start shipping later this year.
Amazon also unveiled a newer version of eero, a mesh Wi-Fi system that replaces an existing router to extend Wi-Fi coverage at home. Now available for U.S. customers, the new eero will soon be available in Europe. Customers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. will be able to try the new eero and eero Pro in early November.
Amazon also announced Certified for Humans, a program that helps customers find smart home products that are easy to set up and work with Alexa.
Additionally, Amazon unveiled new smart home devices: the voice-controlled Amazon Smart Oven and Echo Glow lamp. The company also announced new Alexa features such as Alexa Guard smart alerts, Wi-Fi access and easy reordering of household supplies.
