ND oil, gas production remained flat in December 2017

North Dakota gas and oil production stayed relatively flat in December 2017, as 2,139 wells were idle.

Gas producers reported 64.5 Bcf in the month, or 2.1 Bcf/d, according to preliminary figures released by the Industrial Commission. November's adjusted total was at 62.9 Bcf, or 2.1 Bcf/d.

Oil production came in at 36.6 million barrels, or 1.2 MMbbl/d. For November, adjusted oil production amounted to 35.9 MMbbl, or 1.2 MMbbl/d.

The top-producing county for gas in December was McKenzie with 33.6 Bcf. Williams County was next at 11.6 Bcf. McKenzie was also the top oil producer in December, with 15.3 MMbbl produced. The second-leading oil county was Mountrail with 6.8 MMbbl.

Of the state's 16,432 wells capable of production in December, 14,293 were in use.
