Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. will recall 63,493 vehicles sold in India to inspect a potential issue with their motor-generator unit, the company said in a Dec. 6 filing with the National Stock Exchange of India and the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The recall covers certain gas smart hybrid variants of Suzuki Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 models manufactured Jan. 1-Nov. 21.
The Indian arm of Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. said a possible defect may have occurred in the components during production by an overseas global parts supplier.
Maruti Suzuki also started notifying dealers to inspect and replace the parts if necessary.
