Target to launch same-day delivery with Shipt in Philadelphia

Minneapolis-based retailer Target Corp. together with its online marketplace Shipt will start same-day delivery for more than 55,000 groceries, essentials, home items, electronics and other products in Philadelphia from April 5.

Shipt will be responsible for bagging and delivering the products from Target stores. Customers having Shipt's annual membership can avail free and unlimited delivery on orders over $35. In addition, the online marketplace is also providing the annual membership for $49 for customers who sign up before April 5.

Target plans to expand this service to a majority of its stores by the 2018 holiday season. The company also plans to start offering same-day delivery for all major product categories by the end of 2019. The retailer also said in February that it will offer same-day delivery service to Louisiana from March 13. Target is also providing the same-day delivery in 57 stores in Alabama and South Florida.

Alabama-based Shipt was acquired by Target in December 2017 for $550 million.
