The New York Department of Financial Services has formed a state insurance advisory board charged with working with superintendent Maria Vullo to further the department's goals related to the insurance industry.
The board must consist of seven representatives from domestic insurance companies, one insurance producer and two consumer representatives. Board members are appointed by the superintendent to three-year terms and must meet once per year.
Starting in 2018, the board will consist of HealthNow New York Inc. President and CEO David Anderson; Chuck Bell, programs director of Consumers Union; Lucy Fato, executive vice president and general counsel at American International Group Inc.; TIAA President and CEO Roger Ferguson Jr.; EmblemHealth Inc. President and CEO Karen Ignagni; Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America President and CEO Deanna Mulligan; Jacqueline Quintal, managing director and financial institutions practice leader at Aon Risk Solutions; Diane Spicer, supervising attorney of community health advocates for the Community Service Society; Bernie Turi, senior vice president and general counsel of Utica National Insurance Group; and Michael Zarcone, executive vice president and head of corporate affairs at MetLife Inc.
