First Cobalt Corp. said June 7 that it acquired 22 mining claims totaling 848 hectares in Ontario from Brixton Metals Corp. for C$325,000 in cash.
The company noted that eight of the claims, which also include the past-producing Bellellen mine, are contiguous to its flagship Keeley-Frontier silver-cobalt project.
In addition, some of the northern claims are located less than 1 kilometer from the Yukon refinery, for which First Cobalt recently secured a 50% joint venture option.
First Cobalt plans to test the extension, which expands its landholding in the region by 40%, for continuity with the Keeley-Frontier project as part of its 2017 exploration program.
