The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission issued Ontario Power Generation Inc. a 10-year operating license for the 3,100-MW Pickering nuclear power plant that is valid from Sept. 1, 2018, until Aug. 31, 2028.
The facility will operate under the new license until the end of 2024, followed by safe storage activities, such as removal of fuel and water, between 2024 and 2028, the company said in an Aug. 8 news release.
