Wet weather prompts Yancoal to declare force majeure at Australian coal mine

Heavy rainfall in Queensland, Australia, prompted Yancoal Australia Ltd. to declare force majeure on its Middlemount coal joint venture with Peabody Energy Corp., Metal Bulletin reported March 29, citing an emailed statement from the company.

The company noted that output at its Yarrabee mine has also been affected by rain.

The two mines produced over 2 million tonnes of metallurgical coal in 2016, the report added.
