Sumitomo Mitsui units, Barclays to end cooperation in Japan private banking ops

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. units Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. and SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. will cease cooperation with Barclays Bank Plc in the private banking business targeting rich Japanese individuals, effective April 1.

The three companies began working together in July 2010.
