WSJ: Former Microsoft, GM exec considered for Trump's top economic adviser spot

Chris Liddell, a former executive at Microsoft Corp. and General Motors Co., is being considered as Gary Cohn's replacement to serve as director of the National Economic Council, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the discussions.

Liddell has backing from the president's senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, the publication noted.

Former Federal Reserve governor Kevin Warsh and White House trade adviser Peter Navarro are also among the names reported as possible candidates. Cohn stepped down after the Trump administration began to implement a series of protectionist trade policies.
