BP CEO to retire; Nova Scotia Power appoints president/CEO

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly rundown of recent executive management, board and regulatory changes in the energy industry. The moves are listed by sector in reverse chronological order.

Power

* Dominion Energy Inc. on Oct. 2 announced two executives will serve in the roles of executive vice president and co-COO, beginning Dec. 1. The executives are Robert Blue, currently executive vice president, president and CEO of Dominion's power delivery group and Diane Leopold, currently executive vice president, president and CEO of the company's gas infrastructure group. Blue will also serve as president of Dominion Energy Virginia, known legally as Virginia Electric and Power Co. Carter Reid, currently executive vice president and chief administrative and compliance officer, will become executive vice president and chief of staff for Dominion Energy as well as president of Dominion Energy Services.

* Nova Scotia Power Inc. appointed Wayne O'Connor as president and CEO. O'Connor replaces Karen Hutt, who was appointed executive vice president of strategy and business development at Emera Inc. O'Connor became Emera's executive vice president of strategy and business development in 2017, the company said in an Oct. 1 news release.

* Sunworks Inc. appointed Judith Hall to its board of directors, effective immediately, according to an Oct. 1 news release. Hall previously worked as chief legal officer at Recurrent Energy LLC, now a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc.

* Green Mountain Power Corp. nominated Mari McClure as president and CEO to succeed Mary Powell. Powell announced her intention to leave the Énergir Inc. subsidiary after 12 years in her role. McClure is senior vice president at Green Mountain Power, according to a Sept. 30 news release.

Oil and gas utility/midstream

* BP PLC said CEO Bob Dudley will retire on March 31, 2020, and step down from its board on Feb. 4, 2020, confirming earlier media reports. Dudley, who has spent 40 years with the oil major, will be succeeded by Bernard Looney, the head of the company's upstream business, on Feb. 5, 2020. Looney will also join the BP board on the same date. BP also said Lamar McKay, currently deputy group CEO, will serve as chief transition officer.

* Gran Tierra Energy Inc. named Tony Berthelet as COO, according to an Oct. 3 news release. Before joining Gran Tierra, Berthelet was the president and CEO of Strategic Oil & Gas Ltd.

* C&J Energy Services Inc. and Keane Group Inc. on Oct. 2 named the future executive leadership team of the combined company: Billy Driver as the senior vice president for product lines; Ian Henkes as the senior vice president for operations; Jack Renshaw as the senior vice president for well services; Ed Keppler as the senior vice president for operations and shared services; Ted Lafferty as the senior vice president and chief technology officer; Kevin McDonald as the executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel; and Richard Vaclavik as the senior vice president and chief commercial officer.

* Independent oil and natural gas company Murphy Oil Corp. elected Robert Ryan Jr. to its board of directors, effective Oct. 1, according to an Oct. 2 news release. Ryan retired from oil major Chevron Corp., where he was vice president of global exploration, in 2018.

* Canadian oil and gas producer PrairieSky Royalty Ltd. appointed Robert Robotti as an independent director to its board effective Oct. 3. Robotti is the founder and chief investment officer of investment adviser Robotti & Co. Advisors LLC and is chair of seismic data library provider Pulse Seismic Inc.

* Graham Robjohns has decided to step down as CFO of natural gas midstream firm Golar LNG Ltd., according to an Oct. 1 release. Robjohns will remain in the position until April 30, 2020, while the company looks for a replacement. In addition, Brian Tienzo will step down as CEO of Golar LNG Partners LP. Robjohns will take over as CEO of Golar Partners while the firm looks for a permanent replacement.

* Roan Resources Inc. named Rick Gideon as CEO, effective immediately, according to an Oct. 1 news release. Gideon recently was senior vice president of U.S. operations at fellow oil and gas producer Devon Energy Corp.

* Viper Energy Partners GP LLC director Michael Hollis resigned from his post, effective immediately, according to a Sept. 30 SEC filing.

* Infinity Energy Resources Inc. named John Loeffelbein as its COO, according to a Sept. 30 news release. Loeffelbein is a member of Core Energy LLC.

* Bermuda-based Borr Drilling Ltd. said Pål Kibsgaard was elected as a director following the company's annual general meeting held Sept. 27. Kibsgaard, the former CEO and chairman of the board of oilfield service giant Schlumberger Ltd., replaces Fredrik Halvorsen as a board member after the latter decided to step down effective Sept. 1.

* Spark Energy Inc. announced the resignation of Jason Garrett, executive vice president of Spark Retail, effective Sept. 25. Garrett will remain in an advisory capacity through Oct. 31. Mike Kuznar, Spark's executive adviser and formerly the president of Retailco, will be the interim head of retail markets while the company searches for Garrett's replacement.

Coal

* Ramaco Resources Inc.'s board of directors will increase by one member to a total of 10, with Trent Kososki and Peter Leidel named to fill two vacancies. Kososki served on the board of directors from December 2016 to June 2019 and has been a principal at Energy Capital Partners LLC since 2014. Leidel is a founder and partner of Yorktown Partners and focuses on energy companies in different industries.
