First US Bancshares further extends stock buyback program

First US Bancshares Inc.'s board extended the Birmingham, Ala.-based company's existing share repurchase program to expire Dec. 31, 2019.

The company may buy back up to 642,785 common shares under the plan, which was originally approved in 2006.

As of Dec. 19, the company had repurchased about 400,482 common shares under the program, leaving about 242,303 shares that may still be repurchased under the program.
