Qatar Airways boosted the international hotel portfolio of its hospitality arm following the acquisition of the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel in Australia from local developer Golden Age Development Group under a roughly A$135 million deal, The Australian reported.
Dhiafatina Hotels will add the newly acquired property to its portfolio, joining the growing list of its owned and managed hotels that include the Sheraton Skyline Hotel at London's Heathrow Airport, The Novotel Edinburgh Park in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Oryx Rotana Hotel in Doha and The Airport Hotel located at Doha's Hamad International Airport.
In a statement, the airlines' group CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said the purchase complements the company's global strategy for growth and boosts its offering for passengers.
Located on Melbourne's Little Collins Street, the hotel offers 174 luxury rooms and suites, restaurants, spa, gym and event space, among other features.
