Okla. regulator orders One Gas utility to return tax cut savings to customers

Customers of Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. are set to see lower bills in 2019 after a Jan. 8 vote by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission required the utility to pass on its savings from the recent tax cut to its customers.

The vote and order, which was spurred by a motion filed by the state Attorney General Mike Hunter, will require the One Gas Inc. utility to return about $22.7 million in savings for the year. Customers will receive the savings through a rate reduction of roughly $11 million, plus $11.7 million in one-time credits, to be received in February.

The utility's customers would receive $15 in savings during February, with smaller savings coming in the following month throughout the year.

Oklahoma Natural Gas provides services to over 871,000 customers in Oklahoma.
