Novo Banco to sell foreclosed property portfolio for €389M

Portuguese bank Novo Banco SA, part of Dallas-based private equity firm Lone Star Funds agreed to sell a real estate portfolio with a gross book value of €716.7 million to New York-based private equity firm Anchorage Capital Group LLC for €388.9 million in proceeds.

The Project Viriato portfolio comprises 8,726 foreclosed properties, including residential units, associated parking spaces, storage, retail units and land plots, according to a release.

Following completion of the deal, expected by the end of 2018, the portfolio will be managed by Lace Investment Partners and a team of special servicers.
