Kroll affirms ratings for Bankwell Financial Group, unit

Kroll Bond Rating Agency affirmed the senior unsecured debt rating of BBB+, the subordinated debt rating of BBB and the short-term debt rating of K2 for New Canaan, Conn.-based Bankwell Financial Group Inc.

In addition, the rating agency affirmed the deposit and senior unsecured debt ratings of A-, the subordinated debt rating of BBB+, and the short-term deposit and debt ratings of K2 for the company's subsidiary, Bankwell Bank.

The outlook for all long-term ratings is negative.

Among the factors supporting the ratings are Bankwell Financial Group's strong credit culture and risk management framework, conservative underwriting standards and historically solid asset quality.
