Iberdrola SA is entering the Portugal's solar market with a contract to develop a 149-MW project, according to an Aug. 8 news release.
The Spanish utility won the contract in the Portuguese Ministry of the Environment and Energy Transition's recent public auction. As previously reported, Iberdrola took the largest number of lots in the auction, which offered up to 1.4 GW of solar photovoltaic capacity.
Iberdrola plans to commission the solar project between 2021 and 2023.
The utility leads the Portuguese electricity sector in large consumers with an almost 33% market share.
