NextEra Energy commissions 81-MW solar facility in Arkansas

NextEra Energy Resources LLC has commissioned the 81-MW Stuttgart Solar Project solar energy center in Arkansas, the company said in a May 29 news release.

The output will be sold under a 20-year power purchase agreement to Entergy Corp.'s local utility subsidiary, Entergy Arkansas Inc.

The companies said the Stuttgart project is the largest universal solar energy project in Arkansas, hosting 350,000 photovoltaic solar panels on 475 acres in Arkansas County, Ark., and is expected to generate over its operational life nearly $8 million in additional revenue for the county.

"This solar energy project will provide millions of dollars in additional tax revenue to Arkansas County and will generate cost-effective, home-grown solar energy for Entergy customers for years to come," NextEra Energy Resources President and CEO Armando Pimentel said in the news release.

The solar project was constructed by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc., which also will own and operate it.
