Amazon.com Inc. will hire more than 400 full-time workers at its new fulfillment center between Brookshire and Katy in Texas, KHOU, a Houston-based CBS-affiliated newswire reported Feb. 16, citing a company announcement.
The development comes almost a year after the e-commerce giant first announced its plans to open its 10th Texas distribution center in Katy, expecting to create 1,000 new full-time jobs. In the March 29, 2017, announcement, Amazon said employees at the new site will pick, pack and ship larger-sized customer items, including music equipment, sports gear and electronics.
According to a job listing on Amazon's website, employees at the new site will get healthcare benefits, holiday and overtime pay, paid time off and employee discounts, among others.
Amazon was recently also reported to be creating 2,000 more permanent contract positions in 2018 in France, where the company is reportedly planning to open a new delivery warehouse.
