Slovakia upholds 0.5% countercyclical buffer for banks

The Slovakian central bank's board approved a decision to increase the countercyclical capital buffer rate for banks in the country to 0.5% from zero percent.

The central bank said Jan. 31 that banks will be required to hold the additional capital buffer imposition Aug. 1 as planned.

The central bank in July 2016 decided to increase the countercyclical capital buffer to reduce the risk posed by rapid lending growth.
