Lightsource BP breaks ground on 70-MW solar plant in Pennsylvania

Lightsource BP Renewable Energy Investments Ltd. has started construction of its 70-MW solar project in Franklin County, Pa.

The project will sell all its output to Pennsylvania State University under a 25-year power purchase agreement, according to a Sept. 6 news release.

The university expects the power plant to meet 25% of its statewide electricity needs and lower its greenhouse gas emissions by 57,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

The project will also support the state's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 26% by 2025.
