FOX News Channel(US) Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes is leaving the cable news networkfollowing sexual harassment claims by former anchor Gretchen Carlson, The DailyBeast reported July 19.
Ailes will reportedly get at least $40 million as buyout fromFOX News. While FOX initially confirmed the report, the network reportedly retractedthat confirmation.
Recent reportsindicated that Rupert Murdoch and sons Lachlan and James, co-chairmen and CEO, respectively,of FOX News parent 21st Century FoxInc., agreed that Ailes should be removed. Another FOX News anchorwomanMegyn Kelly reportedly also told investigators that Ailes had sexually harassedher years ago.
Ailes claimed Carlson's sexual harassment against him were false, labelingthe legal action a retaliatory suit for the network's decision not to renew hercontract.
