NII Holdings files for dissolution

NII Holdings Inc. on Jan. 13 filed a certificate of dissolution with the Delaware Secretary of State, in line with its previously approved liquidation and dissolution plan.

Following the filing, holders of NII Holdings' common stock will no longer be able to transfer records or beneficial ownership of their shares. The shares were earlier delisted from the Nasdaq Global Select Market on Jan. 9.

NII Holdings' move to dissolve the company came after the sale of its wireless business in Brazil to América Móvil SAB de CV for $948.5 million. The sale represents the disposition of NII Holdings' last remaining operating asset.
