Pentagon, Northrop Grumman Systems sign contracts worth $1.89B

The U.S. Defense Department said Sept. 27 that it awarded Northrop Grumman Corp. subsidiary Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. two contracts worth about $1.89 billion.

The company landed a $1.39 billion contract to provide production, sustainment and engineering technical services for the Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation System Modernization system. It also earned a $495 million contract for the modernization and maintenance of E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System aircraft.

In June, Northrop Grumman Systems also signed a $958 million contract with the department.

The latest development comes about a week after Northrop Grumman announced that it is reorganizing its operating sectors as it aims to align businesses that have shared markets, customers and technologies.
