Dominion Energy unit to supply voltage management solutions to Md. cooperative

Dominion Voltage Inc. entered into a full deployment contract to provide Volt/VAR optimization solutions to Choptank Electric Cooperative Inc.'s 54,000 members in Maryland.

The Dominion Energy Inc. subsidiary collaborated with its value-added reseller for cooperatives, NRTC, to propose a voltage management solution in order to reduce supply costs and keep electric rates down, according to a Feb. 21 news release.

Choptank Electric Cooperative President and CEO Mike Wheatley said using Dominion Voltage Inc.'s technology will allow it to reduce system peak and improve operating expense through lower demand charges.
