Investor group acquires 96.7% stake in agricultural seeds breeder Misr Hytech

Helios Investment Partners LLP and Egyptian-American Enterprise Fund, or EAEF, bought a 96.7% stake in Misr Hytech Seed Int. via their investment manager Lorax Capital Partners.

Cairo-headquartered Misr Hytech breeds and produces proprietary agricultural seeds.

Helios is a private equity firm with a focus on the African market, EAEF is a private entity funded by the U.S. government, and Lorax is an investor targeting Egyptian companies.

Norton Rose Fulbright and Matouk Bassiouny were primary legal advisers to Helios and EAEF, with DLA Piper serving as their intellectual property legal adviser.

Nyemaster Law Firm and Al Tamimi & Co. were legal advisers to the selling shareholders, while Gulfstone Capital was their financial adviser.
