Yakult Honsha Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was ¥39.89 per share, a gain of 8.3% from ¥36.84 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥6.59 billion, a gain of 6.7% from ¥6.18 billion in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 7.0% from 6.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased on an annual basis to ¥94.12 billion from ¥90.51 billion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to ¥83.38 billion from ¥80.46 billion.
Reported net income increased 10.0% on an annual basis to ¥7.56 billion, or ¥45.75 per share, from ¥6.87 billion, or ¥40.99 per share.
