Jute Spinners Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to a loss of 4.58 taka per share, compared with a loss of 6.38 taka per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of 7.8 million taka, compared with a loss of 10.8 million taka in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to negative 9.5% from negative 9.7% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue decreased 26.8% year over year to 81.8 million taka from 111.7 million taka, and total operating expenses declined 28.7% on an annual basis to 86.3 million taka from 121.0 million taka.
Reported net income totaled a loss of 12.8 million taka, or a loss of 7.53 taka per share, compared to a loss of 18.3 million taka, or a loss of 10.78 taka per share, in the year-earlier period.
As of Feb. 27, US$1 was equivalent to 77.88 taka.
