Danske Bank invests in fintech firm Spiir

Denmark's Danske Bank A/S invested 25 million kroner in budget finance application Spiir A/S.

The investment gives the lender access to Spiir's technical platform, including data retrieval from other banks in the Nordics. Danske said Spiir is a step closer to meeting the new Payment Services Directive II, or PSD2, under which banks are obliged to make customers' data available to third parties.

The bank also said it had entered into an agreement with Swedish firm Minna Technologies.

As of May 16, US$1 was equivalent to 6.32 Danish kroner.
