Bermuda-based jeweler Signet Jewelers Ltd. will launch a high-tech diamond photography center in Akron, Ohio, to showcase its jewelry, Market Watch reported Nov. 21, citing statements made by CEO Virginia Drosos during the company's third-quarter earnings call.
The report said the facility will use a diamond display technology by Segoma Ltd., which enhances the customer's view of jewelry sold online by showcasing items photographed in 360-degree high definition and 40 times the magnification. Segoma is owned by R2Net Inc., which was acquired by Signet in August.
The jeweler will begin building the center in the fourth quarter, according to Market Watch.
Signet will also install retina display screens in a number of its Jared stores, which will showcase the Segoma technology, the news outlet added.
