The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking into about 9,300 Volkswagen AG manual-transmission vehicles whose engines stall at low speeds, according to a Sept. 3 notice.
"The petitioner further alleges that the engine turns off without warning as the vehicle slows to a stop or prepares to make a turn across traffic with the clutch pressed in and the vehicle in neutral," it said in the disclosure.
The NHTSA said its Office of Defects Investigation received the petition Aug. 14 to investigate the carmaker's model year 2019 GTI, Golf GTI and Jetta GLI vehicles.
