FPL selects Black & Veatch to develop 4 solar plants

Florida Power & Light Co. selected Black & Veatch Corp. to engineer, procure and construct four solar projects across the state totaling 298 MW of planned capacity, according to a March 28 release.

Black & Veatch will build the Barefoot Bay, Blue Cypress and Loggerhead facilities in the Vero Beach, Fla., area, while the Hammock solar plant will be constructed in Hendry County, Fla.

The projects consist of more than one million solar panels and are scheduled to begin operation by the end of this year. Each plant will generate 74.5-MW electric output, according to the NextEra Energy Inc. subsidiary.
