Fidelity & Guaranty Life sees greatest increase in short interest

Fidelity & Guaranty Life had the largest increase in short interest relative to shares outstanding among covered insurance companies between Oct. 31 and Nov. 15.

The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding rose 228 basis points to 5.76% as of Nov. 15.

Trupanion Inc. posted the steepest drop in short interest relative to shares outstanding among covered insurance companies. The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding fell 146 basis points to 13.68% as of Nov. 15.

MBIA Inc. topped the list of most-shorted insurance companies in the first half of November. The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding stood at 46.29% as of mid-November.
