Lundbeck Q4'17 profit, revenue up YOY

H. Lundbeck A/S said fourth-quarter 2017 earnings rose year over year, driven by an increase in revenues.

The Denmark-based pharmaceutical company booked a core profit of 756 million Danish kroner, or 3.81 kroner per share, compared to a profit of 693 million, or 3.50 kroner per share, in the corresponding quarter of 2016.

The S&P Capital IQ normalized EPS consensus estimate for the fourth quarter was 3.73 kroner.

Revenue for the quarter totaled 4.39 billion kroner, up 11% year over year on a currency-neutral basis.

On a GAAP basis, the company posted a fourth-quarter profit of 553 million kroner, or 2.78 kroner per share, up from 473 million kroner, or 2.38 kroner per share, in the year-ago period.

Full-year 2017 results and 2018 guidance

For full-year 2017, the company posted a core profit of 3.26 billion kroner, or 16.50 kroner per share, which compares to 2.20 billion kroner, or 11.09 kroner per share, in 2016.

The S&P Capital IQ normalized EPS consensus estimate for 2017 was 15.49 kroner.

Revenue for the year came in at 17.23 billion kroner, up from 15.63 billion kroner in 2016. Sales were driven by the company's depression treatments Brintellix/Trintellix and Rexulti; hypotension drug Northera; and seizure treatment Onfi.

On a GAAP basis, the company's net profit totaled 2.62 billion kroner, or 13.27 kroner per share, up from 1.21 billion kroner, or 6.11 kroner per share, in the year-ago period.

Lundbeck said it was targeting revenue of between 17.20 billion and 18 billion kroner during 2018.

As of Feb. 6, US$1 was equivalent to 6.02 Danish kroner.
