Natura Cosméticos SA said its normalized net income for the first quarter amounted to 25 Brazilian centavos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 26 centavos per share.
EPS increased year over year from 24 centavos.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 108.5 million reais, a gain from 104.4 million reais in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin dropped to 6.6% from 6.7% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 5.5% on an annual basis to 1.64 billion reais from 1.56 billion reais, and total operating expenses increased 5.9% year over year to 1.41 billion reais from 1.34 billion reais.
Reported net income grew from the prior-year period to 119.7 million reais, or 28 centavos per share, from 117.2 million reais, or 27 centavos per share.
As of April 29, US$1 was equivalent to 2.94 reais.
