The monthly U.S. international trade deficit in goods narrowed to a seasonally adjusted $68.19 billion in April from $68.59 billion in March, according to advance estimates from the Census Bureau.
Exports of goods decreased to $139.59 billion in April from $140.26 billion in March, and imports of goods fell to $207.78 billion from $208.85 billion.
The April deficit was larger than the $66.61 billion shortfall in the same month a year ago.
Wholesale inventories slightly increased to $629.38 billion in April from the revised $629.23 billion in the previous month, and retail inventories rose to $633.49 billion from the revised $629.98 billion in March.
