Report: Deutsche Bank probing executives for hiring misconduct in Russia

Deutsche Bank AG has been conducting an internal inquiry, dubbed "Project Dastan," for the past four years into possible violations of anti-bribery laws by its executives in Russia, according to a lawsuit filed by former employee Nizar Al-Bassam, Bloomberg News reported.

Al-Bassam is suing the bank for €4 million in unpaid bonuses that the bank has refused to pay, even though it dropped allegations of discrepancies in hiring during his tenure as finance chief for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The probe referenced in his suit is examining whether bank executives offered jobs to the children of Russian officials in exchange for access, according to filings.
