Zumiez fiscal Q3 profit climbs 10.0% YOY

Zumiez Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 1 amounted to 53 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 53 cents per share.

EPS rose 14.2% year over year from 47 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $15.6 million, a gain of 10.0% from $14.1 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to 7.3% from 7.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 11.6% year over year to $213.3 million from $191.1 million, and total operating expenses rose 12.1% from the prior-year period to $188.4 million from $168.1 million.

Reported net income grew 33.4% on an annual basis to $15.7 million, or 54 cents per share, from $11.8 million, or 39 cents per share.
