Enbridge Inc. reached an agreement with shippers to put the Canadian part of its Line 3 replacement pipeline into service by the end of the year, according to an Aug. 30 news release.
The Calgary, Alberta-based midstream company said it will file a tariff with the Canada Energy Regulator for a temporary surcharge effective Dec. 1, which will be superseded by the full negotiated Line 3 tariff after the U.S. segment pipeline is completed.
Enbridge's Line 3 replacement project was placed in regulatory limbo after the Minnesota Court of Appeals found its final environmental impact statement insufficient. Line 3 is a part of the company's Canadian Mainline crude oil pipeline system, which would have a capacity of 3.2 million barrels per day upon the replacement pipeline's completion.
