U.K. supermarket operator Tesco PLC removed a children's fox hunting costume from its shelves after some customers and anti-hunting campaigners accused the retailer of promoting the hunting activity, Retail Gazette reported March 9.
The sale of the costume started a controversy on social media, with some customers threatening to boycott the retailer and calling the sale of the item "appalling" and "remarkably poor judgment" from the company, the report said.
Responding to criticisms, Tesco reportedly said the costume was listed by one of its partners. The company added that it "listened to customers" and has removed the item from sale.
