M. Dias Branco S.A. Indústria e Comércio de Alimentos said its normalized net income for the third quarter came to 55 Brazilian centavos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 69 centavos per share.
EPS rose 70.6% year over year from 32 centavos.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 184.8 million reais, a gain of 69.9% from 108.8 million reais in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 12.8% from 8.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed 14.4% year over year to 1.45 billion reais from 1.27 billion reais, and total operating expenses grew 5.8% from the prior-year period to 1.16 billion reais from 1.10 billion reais.
Reported net income grew 63.4% on an annual basis to 269.7 million reais, or 80 centavos per share, from 165.0 million reais, or 48 centavos per share.
As of Oct. 31, US$1 was equivalent to 3.17 reais.
