Star India Pvt. Ltd. is preparing to launch a premium, high-definition Hindi film channel in India, Television Post reported Jan. 23.

Star Gold Select HD will be Star India's first premium channel in Hindi, and is intended for upscale pay TV viewers in the country.

The media company has not yet set a launch date for the channel, as planning for content and other factors is still in progress, according to the report.

21st Century Fox Inc. is the parent company of Star India.
